Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to the village of Musho 3150m/10334ft and ascend to the base camp 4350m/14271ft. 1½ hours drive and 4 hours walk.

Day 2: Ascend to the high camp 5250m/17224ft. 5 to 6 hours walk.

Day 3: Climb up to the Garganta 6000m/19685ft (high camp 2). 5 to 6 hours climb.

Day 4: Summit attempt and return to high camp 2. 12 hours climb for the day.

Day 5: Extra day for bad weather.

Day 6: Descend to base camp. 6 hours walk.

Day 7: Return to Huaraz.

Technical Difficulty & Fitness
2. Short, steep sections of snow or ice up to about 60°. Previous snow and ice climbing experience is essential.
C. As for “B”, but tougher. Climbs of this grade are exceptionally strenuous and some weight loss is inevitable. Train hard and take along some spare calories.
